GAZA

There are just certain things I don't want to know even though they affect my country profoundly and, probably, me and mine.
So here is an Andrew Sullivan link that could lead you where you, not I, need to go.

Get Rid of Those Old Electronic Items

Free and environmentally safe for WA residents. h/t AL
http://www.ecyclewashington.org/

Still, though, how do I get all the crap off my old PC's hard drive?
Any takers?

Call Me Naive

Well, don't, or my big brother will beat you up.
But anyway, here's a thing you can do today that will make a difference.
I've been lax about finding good action items for Contrariennes, but do this one today.
I know it sounds sappy, but you voted for Obama anyway, even though he said we are the change we've been waiting for.
Larry Lessig's a kewl guy. Here's more from him.

Best Movies

I never trusted Roger Ebert, he led me astray too often.
But I do trust Bob Mondello and other NPR sources.
You will notice, as JM has confirmed elsewhere, that Benjamin Button is not one of Mondello's 22 picks. So sorry, Brad. You're cute, but that's not enough.
But howcome not Julian Schnabel's Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Too artsy?

Guide Horses, Helper Parrots

NPR in my opinion has one of the best Web sites in existence. This little story on a proposed change in service animal regulations is one of the reasons why. They read the New York Times Magazine so I don't have to.

Best List

I've seen so far is Andrew Golis's list of top progressive intellectuals under 40. I actually know who some of them are, but had never heard of this guy, who's great.

Well, Sometimes There Are Exceptions

to this "vacation" that demand response.
Such as Wired Magazine's top ten animal videos, some of which made it to Contrarienne earlier in the year.
Transformer Owl highly recommended.

Intentional Hiatus

Hmm. I haven't been posting. It's not that I'm not reading, or finding things you might like, but the follow-through energy seems to be lacking. And I notice that Andrew Sullivan and his trusty blog support person has decided to take the tween holidays week off.
So I guess I will, too.
See you next Monday, Jan. 5. Fresh and bushy-tailed, I hope. Maybe even inspired.
