I'm Back, I Think

I blame my absence on the slow news month — August after all — but it could just as easily have been just general alienation of the can't-give-a-shit variety. I was actually thinking of getting off Facebook and dropping my internet service.
Can you imagine? Apparently neither can I.
Romney's deep pile of doo-doo today gives me hope. I was actually considering various headlines such as "Romney Suspends Campaign, Blames Obama For Being Too Likeable." Subhead: GOP Nominates Fill-In-The-Blank.
I just heard a good one today, too. Apparently The Daily Show from Tampa was titled something like Road To The White House, Jeb Bush 2016!
Anyway I wanted to post a whole bunch of stuff on Facebook yesterday and had to also restrain myself from alienating all my remaining friends again today, so I figured it was time to come back here, where only five people know my name (I'm looking at you, Adele, R.P., Mardie, and ... who's that over in the corner? Looking for who? Oh, she's the next blog over.) Three then. So be it.
Here's the thing I never should have put on Facebook. It was when I knew I was going off the deep end. From now on, I pledge to post Ze Frank stuff for contrariennes only. Who is Ze Frank, you ask. And well you might. I'm really not sure. Google him.
Oh hell, that's right. That's what I'm here for. Without further ado, Ze Frank.
Okay, I don't know how to do audio embeds anymore, so here's the link, it's the  track toward the bottom of the page he says is his favorite, but not the finished track at the very bottom. Sorry. I'll do better.

Dear Followers

I had no idea until today that there were five of you. It's kinda nice to know you're out there. Guess I should be more prolific. But I'm curious. What happens once you become a follower? Do they tell you when there's a new post? Cuz that would be cool. Otherwise, I'm thinkin' what good is it except for my vanity. Do you think I should ask my FB friends to be followers? Or would they then get spammed with every post? I mean there was a time when I did 20 a day, now I'm thinkin' 20 a month would be a lot. FB sort of became my new Contrarienne, shortened version, but only because I play a lot of Lexulous and Scrabble.
Any feedback?

About This New Media Thingie

Contrarienne was absolutely flabbergasted to get 186 hits in one day after posting the vulva dress a few weeks ago.
But today has its own sweetness.
Of course, thanks to Stumbledupon, the vulva fans are still out there and trickling in.
But today we're also
hearing from Italy because of sculptor Kelly Bersheim's stunning photo of Santa Croce (and from Kelly herself, that lucky American living and working in Florence) and some of Mardie's Twitter buddies responding to her tweet about our posting of NPR's Mom Music. Most surprising are the people coming from viralvideos because apparently the video of American troops in Afghanistan plotting to pass out Bibles in direct contradiction of military policy against evangelizing is hitting the charts.
Contrarienne learned about it from Huffington Post and has since seen a headline referencing a Pentagon claim that the Bibles, produced in Afghani languages, were confiscated.
And it's only 6:21 p.m. on Tuesday. What will the rest of the week bring? Mother's Day, baby, Mother's Day, which Contrarienne will celebrate by attending a production of Gypsy at Port Townsend High School. And eating a hot dog from Dogs-A-Foot downtown.

Time's Blog Index

Time Magazine invited votes for best blogs and here are the results for the top 25 and worst five.
Alas, Contrarienne is on neither list, but some of her favorites are, thereby proving once again, "I read it so you don't have to."

P.S. Contrarienne quit reading Time altogether right after Jay Carney and his editor dismissed the importance of the U.S. Attorney scandal and they hired Mr. Smirky, Mark Halperin. Oh, okay, they got rid of Bill Kristol, but they've still got Joe Klein and I'm mad at former Wonkette Ana Marie Cox for pretending to be a reporter when all she is is a blogger.
