We Are All Jews

or something like that. Well, not all of us, but those of us who inherited the tradition, what is called Judeo Christian. That's the first thing I thought when I started reading this NYT piece about a new interpretation of the writing on a stone dating back to the time of Jesus. Bottom line, Jesus died for Israel's sins. Not for yours or mine. UPDATE 12:28 p.m. Thought this one over. I am not a Jew. Back to the religion of string theory, I guess. No, wait. I am a Jew. We are all Jews. Jew. String theory. Jew. String theory. Can't decide.

  1. It is highly probable this stone tablet text is simply another sensationalist scam, as is clearly indicated by the facts

    (1) that no specific information is available on its provenance and

    (2) that no details are provided on carbon dating of the ink.

As such, this "news" falls right in line with the faked Lost-Tomb-of-Jesus "documentary" designed to make a profit off of people's fascination with the "real" Jesus, and with the larger scandal of the biased and misleading way the Dead Sea scrolls are being presented in museum exhibits around the world. See, e.g.,

  2. Wow, MEC, what you are saying is that respected professionals in the field of archeology can be as deceitful as people in electoral politics.
    I am shocked, shocked.
    Thanks for the links.
