Snow and local election officials say most of the county's new voters are local college students, driving up numbers primarily in the city of Kalamazoo as well as in Kalamazoo and Oshtemo townships.
As of Monday, the city of Kalamazoo had 57,650 registered voters, up 13 percent from November 2004; Kalamazoo Township had 18,507, up 7.5 percent; and Oshtemo Township had 15,977, an increase of 12 percent.
